About Counselling

Research shows that around 85% of people who try a talking therapy feel some benefit.

The most important aspect is to find the counsellor or therapist who is right for you. There are so many different ways and types of training it can seem a minefield. Research shows, however, the most important aspect is the connection you feel with your counsellor or therapist. Whether you feel understood, and being able to trust they have your best interests at heart even if it gets difficult.

The other, equally important thing to consider, is your own motivation and your willingness to engage with the process, even if this feels hard sometimes, you will more out of it by being curious and noticing  your own feelings or even lack of them.

Needless to say, your counsellor/therapist must be properly trained, with appropriate qualifications and that they have been through enough of a therapeutic process themselves and to know what it's like is important.
