A Bit About Me...

I am from a healthcare as well as a creative writing background. Both these strands are important to me in my life and in my work as a counsellor.

As a writer, providing creative workshops in a variety of settings, such as a mental health day centre, a head injuries support group, and a children's theatre company, I saw first hand the positive benefits creative expression could have in health, self-confidence and well-being.

A personal crisis in my own life then led me to contact a counsellor for support to explore what was happening. I was sceptical whether it could really help me, but it proved a revelation.

This combination of my creative work, my heath work and my own personal experience, eventually led me to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I chose an accredited course at The Gestalt Centre in London. I have a diploma in counselling as well as a post-graduate diploma in Gestalt Studies. I am an accredited member of the BACP.

My work as a counsellor has included work in a rehab centre for alcohol and drug addiction. I also have experience working with anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self esteem, relationship issues, fertility problems, childhood abuse and employment stress.

I offer a warm, accepting space for you to bring and share whatever problem is preventing you from getting the most out of your life. Together we may creatively explore what is happening for you right now, whether that be unfinished business from the past, or worries for the future. Please contact me for further information.

I've been working as a counsellor now for ten years, having built up a busy private practice in first London, then Cardiff, I am now moving to Ludlow in Shropshire and available to book appointments there from January 2023.

I was initially trained in a healthcare field and also have a creative writing background and I believe both help me in my life and work.

As a writer, both in my own work writing fiction, I've also provided creative writing workshops in a variety of settings, such as a mental health day centre, a head injuries support group, a children's theatre company, I saw the benefits that creative expression can have in health, self-confidence and wellbeing.

In my healthcare work as a pharmacist, I also came to realise that not all illness could be explained by physical ailments or that all mental health problems could be cured fully by prescribing.

A personal crisis of my own led me to contact a counsellor for support to explore what I was experiencing. Though I was skeptical that it would help, it proved a revelation.

This combination of my creative work, my healthcare work and my own personal experience eventually led me to train as a counsellor and therapist myself. I chose an accredited course at The Gestalt Centre in London. I have a Diploma in Counselling as well as a post-graduate diploma

in Gestalt Studies and am an accredited member of the BACP. I am currently training as a Supervisor.

My work as a counsellor began with my training placement in a rehab centre for drug and alcohol addiction. Since developing my own practice. I have gained experience in all kinds of issues from anxiety and depression, bereavement and loss, relationship problems, fertility issues, childhood abuse, sexual assault or job stress. No problem is too big or too small if it is affecting your life. It helps to talk about it and explore the feelings attached to your experiences.

I offer a warm, accepting space for you to bring and share whatever is going on for you and preventing you from getting the most out of your life. Together we may creatively explore what is happening, whether that be unfinished business from the past or worries about the future. Please don't hesitate to contact me now for further information.
